Episode 013 — Jacobikirche

Heads on the old console stop knobs. It reminds me a little bit of "Guess Who".

In the last episode involving our experienced wilderness tracker Ed, we visit the Schnitger organ in Hamburg’s Jacobikirche. In the words of Albert Schweitzer: “This organ will become the pilgrimage destination of all organists of the old and the new world.” Well, it has for at least one lucky Canadian.

  1. Thundering bombardons! Someone has alerted me to the fact that gmail divides my mail into folders and I have only recently discovered you! I will be catching up on the entire adventure (soooo jealous) and leave appropriate comments as I progress. Well done!

  2. HI, I’m from Ontario Canada here, and I very much enjoy the podcast. It’s awesome to hear about the different organs in Europe. I’m totally blind here, and I learn repertoire by ear. The Gigout Toccata which you play at the end of every episode, is a piece I’m trying to learn at this time. Is the recording of it used in the podcast, one which you recorded for the podcast on the organ at your church Simon? Or is it one that i can get off iTunes or somewhere like that? IT’s nice and slow, and it’d be good for me to work off of.
